Hi, I’m Erin Shea, Founder and Director of Borough Creative 

About Me

I’m a senior communications specialist with nearly 20 years experience advancing health and social impact through targeted content strategy, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy. Most of my career has been in global public health and foreign aid, working in more than 15 low- and middle-income countries to capture and share health and development stories and content for diverse audiences. 

I’ve worked in settings ranging from rural health posts to refugee camps and large national hospitals, gaining a deep understanding of how healthcare access can mean the difference between life and death. Sometimes that difference is as small as the cost of a taxi to the nearest health facility, or as large as a lifesaving treatment protocol that simply isn’t available.  

This was brought home to me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020, four months into the global COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the major disruptions to the U.S. healthcare system, I was lucky to access world-class care. Throughout my treatment, I often thought about the people I’d met in other countries, people’s whose outcomes for the same disease might be far different simply because of where they live. 

Why I founded Borough Creative

Through Borough Creative, I partner with mission-driven healthcare, foundation, non-profit, and life sciences organizations to develop communications and content that improve lives. My approach blends leadership with hands-on execution, crafting and sharing compelling stories and information that shape policy, public opinion, and inspire support.

Outside of Work              

I spend my time restoring our 100+ year old home, refinishing antique furniture, and managing the daily adventures of our two rescue cats.
